Pyecombe Golf Club Circular Walk

and Chattri Walk

This walk is approximately 3 1/4 miles following the outskirts of the Pyecombe Golf Club golf course.

The Chattri Walk is approx 5 miles, or combine both for a 6.5 mile walk!

Parking can be found in the Jack and Jill Windmills Car Park.

1

From the Jack and Jill Windmills Car Park, turn left and follow the track, with Jack on your left.  Carry on up to a signposted junction, from here follow the main track by veering right and the Downs on your Doorstep (17).

2

Follow this track past New Barn Farm, watch out for horses.  Carry on past the stables until you come to a signpost (this is the one that got me confused, and hence ended up doing the Pyecombe Golf Club walk initially instead of going to Chattri!).

At this junction follow the sign for the Downs on your Doorstep (18), taking you down the path and through a gate on your right.

Follow this track with the Pyecombe Golf Course on your left all the way to the main A273.  Keep following the Downs on your Doorstep, which leads you across the A273 (please be careful here).  The track follow the road until you reach a road junction (to Pyecombe).

Follow that path

3

OR Go straight ahead with the Golf Course on your right.  Pick up the path to Chattri at point 6 below.

From here we need to cross the A273 (again be careful), and through a gate into a strange field, with water tanker (when I was there anyway!).

Walk to the other side of the field and through another gate, then head up hill, with Pyecombe Golf course on your left.

5

Carry on this path up the hill, this offers some good views of Pyecombe.

Keep on the track through some woods, and across the golf course (watch out for stray balls, and stick to the path).

6

turn left at this junction to head back to the Jack and Jill Windmills.

If you popped up to the sign post, head back and follow the path right.

This path will lead you past the top end of Pyecombe Golf course, with it's water feature (pond).

OR near the top of the path there is junction, carry on ahead (turn left at this junction) to find the (correct) path to Chattri War Memorial.

Go through the gate to follow Downs on your Doorstep direction (45).

7

This path turns left and crosses the Sussex Border Path, turn right at this point and follow this path past a clump of trees on your right.  Just part there is an old Footpath sign post and a good view of Jack and Jill.

8

Carry on the Sussex Border Path and cross in to the City of Brighton and Hove, you should see your first glimpse of the Chattri War Memorial on your Right.  Follow the path around to Chattri itself and enjoy some of the fine views.  For more pictures follow this link to the Patcham page.

9

Head back to the Sussex Border Path to where you joined it at point 7 above, this time carry on this path.  This gives you some spectacular views over Pycombe and the Golf Course.
