Circular Walk from St Peters Church

The walk starts at St Nicholas Church (parking can be found on Deacons Way.
1.Start your walk along Church Lane to St Peters Church.

2.Walk past the Church to the footpath and down the steps over and over the stream.

3.Walk across the small field to the bridge over the river Adur.

4.Cross this bridge and across the small field on this side of the river - watch out for the mud and lying water! Muddy field Secret bunker?

5.You will now be on King's Barn Lane and a part of the Downs Link walkway - follow the this lane. King's Barn King's Barn Lane
6.Carry on past the Water Works and a Stables supplier - offers some nice views of the South Downs.

6.Soon after you will reach a bridge where the old railway ran underneath - this is an excellent example. Old Railway Bridge Old Railway Bridge Old Railway Bridge Old Railway to Bramber/Steyning
7.Carry on along the lane (and Downs Link route) to Wyckham Lane - go up this Lane and past Wyckham Farm.

8.Just past the Farm follow the Downs Link on the right. Down Link to Henfield / North Downs Way
9.Follow the Downs link path which will lead to the actual old railway line, turn left here and carry on the path. to Bramber / South Downs Way Path Old line to Steyning - no footpath 10.You pass a couple of bridges - one over a stream and another major one over the River Adur (although only one side is crossable).

11.We will be leaving the Downs Link at this stage however take a quick walk to see the Heritage Trail plaque mentioning Stretham Manor. River Adur Plaque Moat Downs Link continues

14.As you carry on along the footpath by the River Adur it narrows rather significantly but do take this path! Narrow Path Yes it IS a footpath Chanctonbury Ring River Adur Seagulls on the River Adur
15.When the river dog legs there is a choice of which route you can take back to your car.  Either carry on along the River Adur or take the path across the field (the one that heads south not the one to Small Dole!)

16.Follow the meandering path along he route of the river Adur (plenty of Swans to see on the river), and past a Dew Pond with a good view of Beeding Hill.

17.When you reach the small field the walk started from (3 above) turn left back over the stream up the steps and back to the Church. Back to the Church River winds on
16.This path will cut across the fields with many streams in and can be muddy at times.

17.Carry on across the field where it joins Pound Lane by The Priory.  Walk down the Lane to the junction with Deacons Way. Small Dole South Downs The Priory Stables on Pound Lane
